GoogleFit

Project Overview
Google Fit is a health and wellness platform designed to motivate a diverse range of users to maintain active lifestyles across mobile phones, Android watches, tablets, and desktop. The project focused on enhancing user engagement and clarity through improved onboarding, social features, and data visualization — all within Material Design guidelines.

Design Process
The project started with extensive user and competitive research, including testing on multiple devices and hands-on experience with competitor apps. Insights from research guided the redesign of core features such as the first-time user onboarding flows, Insight cards for health data visualization, and social flows that promote team challenges and community motivation. Iterative prototyping and usability testing across platforms ensured consistency and usability.

Challenges
Designing a seamless experience across different device types involved addressing varied screen sizes and interaction models, while maintaining visual consistency. Incorporating social features required careful consideration of user privacy and engagement balance. Collaboration with Android engineering and design system teams was essential to align with Material Design and technical constraints.

Outcomes
The updated Google Fit experience delivered smoother onboarding, increased user motivation through social team challenges, and clearer health insights with intuitive data visuals. Enhancements such as a refreshed color palette and expanded exercise icon set contributed to a cohesive, inviting design. Cross-platform improvements helped increase user satisfaction and retention while reinforcing design system consistency.
